Outbound
Automate outbound sales end to end
ICP to sequencer in one pipeline: waterfall, AI openers, warmed domains. No spreadsheet.
Read the sourceClay — How to Automate Outbound SalesClay ↗Outbound that still starts in a spreadsheet is a headcount problem dressed up as a process. The GTM Engineer version is a single pipeline: find companies that match ICP, enrich contacts in parallel with companies, write openers from the row, and only then touch a sequencer.
Clay’s outbound guide is explicit about the structural mistake teams make: staggering company and contact enrichment. Run them together. Use a multi-provider email waterfall so you pay for the first hit, not four duplicate lookups. Cap sends on warmed variant domains so the primary domain never eats the spam tax.
Before launch, three gates: validated email (not catch-all), warmed sending domain, and a human pass on ~20 AI openers. If any gate fails, the workflow is not ready to scale.
The loop
- Define ICP filters (industry, headcount, funding, technographics) in the source table.
- Enrich company and contact in parallel; waterfall email across providers.
- Generate subject + opener columns from row-level research, not a global template.
- Map enriched fields into Instantly / Smartlead / native sequencer variables.
- Launch only after email validation, domain warmup, and a 20-row copy review.
