After two decades in cloud and cybersecurity, I've learned the hardest part is rarely the technology. It's cutting through the noise — the hype, the tool sprawl, the "AI-powered everything" — to find what actually moves the needle. That's the work I care about: helping the people who run security, the people building products, and the people who have to buy it all make sense of a market that often seems designed to confuse them. My background runs the whole field — federal security operations (Splunk: DoJ, FBI, HHS), cloud-native security architecture (Palo Alto Networks, Prisma Cloud), independent advisory (cloudDork Labs), and now solutions engineering at the platform layer. I've seen security from the analyst side, the startup side, and the enterprise side, which means I've watched the same problems get described very differently depending on who's selling. What I write about: practical security modernization. Cutting tool sprawl. Turning scattered signals into real visibility. Asking the hard questions about AI claims before they land in your stack. Exposure management, XDR, CNAPP, Zero Trust — minus the marketing fog. No vendor cheerleading. No hype.
