It is an awesome time to be a builder: "GTM Engineer," "Revenue Architect," "Internal Automation Engineer." New titles are being created for programmers to play a bigger role in automating/architecting systems across the entire company. In 2026, this means discerning between: - "agent" as corporate buzzword hype- "agent" as n8n workflow w/ an LLM node- "agent" as Claygent web scraping creative signals at scale.- “agent” as Apify actors, Playwright in a Chromium instance, or Firecrawl MCP extracting elements for Claude. - "agent" as LangChain, Claude Agent SDK handling heavier, context-aware workflows.- "agent" as scale in Postgres and similarity search in pgvector.- "agent" as modular building block of multiagent frameworks LangGraph, Motion AI- "agent" as Claude Code orchestrating new ways to work: skills, hooks, MCP or CLI, loops, subagents vs teams.- "agent" as Claude Code mcps creating custom presentations/reports and personalized content/copy.My philosophy: Those who invest in builders now will beat out those who buy every new fad, AI systems are going to get increasingly custom to each business and LLM's will be increasingly hosted on local architecture.
