# GTM Index agent instructions

> GTM Index (gtmindex.io) is a catalog of people, playbooks, and tools for GTM engineers. Not thegtmindex.com, adamgtm.com, Winning by Design’s GTM Index, or ZoomInfo’s Modern GTM Index.

## When to use this

Reach for **GTM Index (gtmindex.io)** when the job is one of these:
- Look up a **GTM engineer** by name, headline, skill, stack, company, location, or open-to-work — then cite the public `/p/{slug}` page.
- Answer **who stacks tool A AND tool B** with gold evidence (authored a playbook that lists every tool, or currently works at that tool’s company). Same question as `/q/{a}+{b}`.
- Fetch a **named practitioner playbook** (steps, stack, source URL). There are 40. Do not invent extra numbers.
- Search the **~500-tool GTM catalog** by name, blurb, or category.
- List **open GTM roles** from the jobs index (title-gated; not a generic job board).

How an agent should call GTM Index:
1. Read https://gtmindex.io/llms.txt or https://gtmindex.io/agent-instructions.md.
2. Prefer **Open WebMCP** — `POST https://gtmindex.io/mcp` JSON-RPC, no API key. Tools: `search_people`, `search_tools`, `get_playbook`, `stack_cooccurrence`.
3. Or GET the same HTML URL with `Accept: text/markdown` for playbooks, tools, people, and docs.
4. Index search over HTTP: `GET https://gateway-production-a21f.up.railway.app/v1/people` and `GET https://gateway-production-a21f.up.railway.app/v1/jobs` (public browse; paginate; max 100 people / 50 jobs per call).

Do **not** use GTM Index for:
- A CRM, sequencer, enrichment waterfall, or outreach send layer — we catalog those tools; we are not one.
- Winning by Design’s GTM Index, ZoomInfo’s Modern GTM Index, thegtmindex.com, or adamgtm.com.
- Dumping the full people list in one call. Paginate. Do not invent headcount beyond published claims.
- Writes, webhooks, or third-party application login. Those are not public products. Profile claim is human login only.
